The Group Logo
It was a dark night, in a city that never sleeps...* But the second floor of CIC biomaGUNE building was aglow  with light and bustling with creative activity . Two graduate students - Sandra Camarero and Swati Gupta - were designing this Logo!

At the top and at the bottom are quartz crystal microbalance crystals. A contact mode AFM image of cholera toxin subunit B5 (CTB5) is shown on the top crystal. On the bottom crystal, there is an image of fluorescently labeled platelets taken with a scanning confocal microscope. A liposome is drawn on the left. An AFM cantilever used for colloidal force experiments is drawn on the right, and the entire assembly is organized around an inorganic oxide structure.

This is what we work on: soft (biological) materials - lipids and proteins - at inorganic interfaces .

You can read about our research in more detail here.
Some information about QCM can be found
here and here.. Some information about CTB5 can be found here.

* Paraphrasing of the theme from Gui Noir, a fictionless private detective from the Prairie Home Companion.. You can listen to it here. I still listen to it on occasion.
